multiple tumblrs for my multiple subjectivities
the biggest lesson i learned last year was to stop holding onto my mythical view of my self as a unified, whole individual. instead, i’ve learned to embrace the fractured character of my self - a conjuncture of multiple, partial subjectivities that are always changing through encounters with the world. thanks to tumblr’s versatility, i can now take a more carefully differentiating approach to my shifting, multiple selves. Rather than trying to reduce them to one unified identity of ‘Eli’s tmblr,’ i’ll now create multiple tumblrs as windows onto the different projects to which my various subjectivities’ attach their flows of affect, desire, and love. i’ll still maintain this ‘Eli’s tmblr’ and its presentation of a semblance of a whole self, in order to make interesting intersections between my different projects and to share cool things (especially music and art) that don’t easily fit into any one of those projects.
